Council: Market Zoning Must Side With UMKM

City Council Chairman, Prasetio Edi Marsudi wants PD. Pasar Jaya to prioritize Micro Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (UMKM) in compiling zoning policy within Draft Bylaw (Raperda) which regulates Pasar Jaya's Business Development and Management.

So, what we have to do now is how to make their business still survive

He stated, provision of UMKM zoning is needed to be applied in Senen Market.

"In Senen Market, clothing and food traders are located on the ground floor. If it is placed like that, customers won't go there. So, what we have to do now is how to make their business still survive," he stressed.

Zoning Terms will Be Set Through Three Market Management Raperda

He also wants UMKM zoning to be regulated in Pasar Jaya Business Development and Management Raperda and concern about trader's classification. Considering most of the traders have been selling for many years.

"The placement must also be concerned. Thus if there is an emergency, they can be evacuated," he added.

Responding to that, PD. Pasar Jaya Director, Arief Nasrudin explained, until now his side has manage trader's zoning based on customer's interest.

"Such as food traders in food court, we have placed them on the top floor. So we have arranged it that way," he stated.
